Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) is India’s premier nuclear research organization under the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE). While best known for its work in atomic energy, BARC also plays a key role in advanced computing, cybersecurity, and software systems — areas where Computer Science engineers contribute significantly.

To recruit young engineers, BARC conducts the OCES and DGFS programs each year, selecting candidates for the post of Scientific Officer. For Computer Science graduates, this opportunity is open through a valid GATE CSE score.

BARC OCES/DGFS: What Is It?

What is OCES?

  • A one-year classroom-based training program
  • Conducted at BARC Training Schools (Mumbai, Kalpakkam, Hyderabad, etc.)
  • Candidates are trained in advanced technical and scientific domains
  • After successful completion, trainees are appointed as Scientific Officer “C”
What is DGFS?
  • A two-year M.Tech. sponsorship scheme
  • Candidates pursue M.Tech. at premier institutes like IITs, NITs, or ICT Mumbai
